Summer's In, Hunger's Out

For kids who rely on free and reduced price school lunches, the risk of going hungry is even greater in the summertime. In 2014, more than 1.65 million lunches were served at Meet Up and Eat Up summer sites in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties at more than 450 locations. Currently, only 15% of kids who eat free and reduced price school lunches access these sites because of a lack of awareness.

The Michigan Department of Education administers the program and meals are paid for by the US Department of Agriculture.
