MICMT-Bulletin Communication Strategies for Adolescent Vaccine Counseling

MICMT would like to share an educational opportunity focused on Communication Strategies for Adolescent Vaccine Counseling. During our recent PO calls, many of you shared the important work you are doing to increase vaccination rates across Michigan. MICMT would like to support these efforts by offering an opportunity to further educate your staff. We encourage you to share this opportunity with your care teams.

MICMT will provide training reimbursement for staff who complete the course, with submission of a certificate of completion or continuing education certificate.

On April 28 from 11:00–12:30, the Adolescent Health Initiative will host a live continuing education (CE) webinar designed for medical professionals, including pediatricians, family physicians, nurse practitioners, and mental health specialists working with adolescents and young adults. Psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare providers involved in adolescent care may also benefit from this training.

This session will focus on the following objectives:

  • Describe recent federal changes related to vaccine communication and recommendations affecting adolescents in the United States
  • Explain the impact of these federal changes on vaccine hesitancy and uptake among youth
  • Summarize evidence-based communication strategies health professionals can use when discussing vaccines with adolescents and their families
  • Identify adolescent-centered educational resources and materials to support vaccine advocacy and uptake
