Tilt Table Testing Requirements HAP All lines of business
Tilt Table Testing Requirements
Required diagnosis
According to the American Heart Association and the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence, evaluation of cardiovascular function with tilt table testing (93660) should only be performed for suspected neurocardiogenic syncope. Therefore, tilt table testing will be denied when billed without a diagnosis of syncope and collapse (R55).
Electrocardiographic monitoring required
According to the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association, it is not appropriate to perform evaluation of cardiovascular function with tilt table testing (93660) for syncope and collapse (R55) if significant arrhythmia is not first ruled out by electrocardiographic monitoring (93000-93010, G0403-G0405, 0903T-0905T). Therefore, when tilt table testing is performed and electrocardiographic monitoring has not been obtained first, tilt table testing will be denied.
This applies to all HAP lines of business.
